Transition and Change

How well do you cope with transition and change? Do you think that you are someone who welcomes new things in life, or do you try to stay away from them as much as possible?
You might find this hard to believe, but I (Elisha) do not really like change all that much. I love routines, and things to stay the way they are as much as possible. However, it does not seem to be the life we live at times.
Our family has lived on more than 3 continents, and moved houses 15+ times in the 7 years we have been together. You would think after doing this so many times we would be pro’s, but each time we come to the fork of change and decisions, it is never easy to make those choices for us. In addition, with the life, we chose to live, the decisions we make often feel like MOUNTAINS. Therefore, here in front of us is one more AMERICA. I guess more specifically, CALIFORNIA.
Now you might be thinking, “Going back to America for X amount of months would be easy for the Lima’s, they have done this a lot.”
Well my friends, it seems like one of the biggest mountains we have crossed ever. I (Elisha) am not only worried about the strategic part of talking to individuals/churches to raise support, but the culture shock I am sure we will all experience. As you all know, visiting a place for a short time is very different than an entire move.
I have come to love what I do so much and the little lives I get to touch. I will miss being able to hear about home problems and counsel my kids, or be able to speak boldly an encourage them in areas they feel small or weak in.
Pedro has learned to love the routines on an office, comradely, and the growth that office and legal pressures have brought. He has also being able to meet so many missionaries doing such a vast range of ministries all over Thailand.
Moreover, Zoe has made much beautiful friendships that she will carry all her life, and amazing memories. She has learned to adapt so well to change, that when something is new she does not question it or ask why, she just takes it for face value.
I don’t how you face changes and transition in your life. We know well that it is not an easy process; however, we have learned through these years that the only thing we need to do is surrender ourselves to God and trust in His way. In our pray time the Lord gave this word:
"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!."
2 Conrthians 4:16-17
Therefore, trust and what God is doing in your life. Don't give up! Bring to your memory what brings you hope and remember that, what God is producing in you will last forever!.
